Meetings, passings & missed opportunities

Hmm…it was one of those instances at work today…

You know when you happen to cast eyes (and in this case, bump into) a member of the opposite sex (or the same sex if you’re so inclined) whom you happen to think is attractive….very attractive!

Of course, yours truly doesn’t do anything about it…..*rolls eyes*

The result of inaction? The realization that this person will just be another passing face in the grand scheme of things, as opposed to the meaningful human connection you’ve envisioned in your mind’s eye; this point is further hammered home as this person passes out of the window of one’s perception…most likely forever….

Hardly a trauma, but certainly a regret nonetheless….

At times like that, I often think back to an Underground ad I saw eons ago that basically read : “That face you just passed on the way to your train could have been your perfect partner.”

This man can only wonder….

One Response to Meetings, passings & missed opportunities

I do not believe in coincidence. There have been far too many of them in *my* life for that to be realistic to me.
    an interesting note –
My boyfriend and I met/spotted one another *3* separate times, in 3 different parts of the state, between 1987 and 1992 – all of this before we actually hooked up and remembered it in 1993. (We have had a commitment for the last 10 years and were dating without commitment for a year before that.) While I feel safe in saying he is *not* my soul mate, we do make an *excellent* match in most respects – hell, we *have* been together for 11 years all together.
In other interesting notes – several of the best friends I have now are people that I was friends with off and on over several years, and lost touch with for many years before we became really close in the last 3 years.
My point, it has been my experience that the best people in your life and for your life will return to you, so you will have that second and sometimes third chance to speak to them.
You have at least this evening to consider what you will say to her when that next opportunity arrives. 🙂
