Disgusting and Contemptuous!! The Self-Medicated Disease of Negative Identity Politics!

I read a phrase the other day…..

to be oppressed is the essence of being a woman

….and sighed out an “Oh, for fuck’s sake!” once again.

It reminded me of something I heard somewhere along the way (probably on a rap CD) saying a similar thing in regard to black people.

More of a reason for me to hate “identity politics”!

Honestly, those relegated to the bottom rung of the caste system in India actually refer to themselves as Dalit which translates as the downtrodden, the pushed under, the ones held under check!

I’ll laugh my arse off if ever I see the term “Dalit Pride” employed…..

I mean, why the fuck would you want your weakness or the negativities heaped upon you by others to define you above all else?

You might as well tattoo “nigger”, or “kike”, or “gimp”, or “cum dumpster”, or “faggot” – or whatever negative epithet(s) can find use against you – on your forehead in big, bold letters!

Taken further, this line of thinking can lead toward the sanctioning and perpetration of the worst behaviours in the name of “justice”….

….however, it seems the logical outcome of adopting the wounds of victimized along with valuations and methods of the victimizers.

If you want an eternal, pat on the head coupled with a “there, there”; want the outside world to concur with your self-conceived “essence” of inferiority; want to become some “selfless” champagne demagogue’s pet cause of the week, then by all means feel free to shit upon yourself and all those who share your chosen biological traits/ ancestral wounds….

…..but I can still hear them-there chains rattling behind you with your every step…..

  1. Pfft. I’m a woman. And I’m pretty fucking sure I’m not opressed. Even if I was, there is nothing to be achieved by revelling in it. It seems like everyone wants a hard-luck story to define themselves by.

I was reading some feminist blog where a woman was expressing fear over the possibility of losing her victim status. She was wondering how she could possibly be successful in life while still declaring herself opressed.

  3. i vehemently agree. i seriously find many other people of my gender irritating and obnoixous because they just can’t give up their victim status, and because being powerless gives them a specific kind of mutated psuedo-power.
ideas such as these leads in my opinion to the sorry state of “feminism” as it is known today. one guy who’s thoughts i find fascinating on the subject is momus. here’s his short commentary on what he call “raunch feminism”, it’s very interesting!

Hehe – I must make a confession; I re-read your post on the macabre and industrial subculture and clicked the link; from that I found the quote about women, posted in one of the responses to his posts; therein lies the catalyst to this entry! 😉
Nice too see things come full circle with your comment here – hehe…

Its tragic, and it half destroyed me trying to understand how even some fairly intelligent women manage to maintain these opinions. It is senseless to devalue oneself just for being what one is, which is my message to anyone who uses a stereotypical category as a reason to think less of themself.
As far as people using deragatory slangs to describe themselves, I think it shows that such people are still in a ‘reactive’ stage, at best, of self-development..and I think everyone is in that stage at some time or another, but unfortunately not everyone is able to escape it..it reminds me of when a kid basically does the opposite of what their parents tell them to do without realizing how trite and dependent it is.

    Yes, my dear. Yes. . . .
It is always a lift to read your thoughts, and I compliment you again on your unique and. . .candid writing style.
